How to Naturally Balance Your Hormones (without products)

It seems that everyone has an opinion on how to naturally balance your hormones. And most of these opinions entail testing and products. Sometimes a lot of both. The testing helps to paint a picture of what is out-of-balance, what is too high and what is too low. Then products are added to allow your body to make more of something and to detox whatever is too high.

The most common hormonal imbalance for women is too much estrogen and too little progesterone, also known as estrogen-dominance. Typically a progesterone product is added to help balance these two hormones.

My hormones began shifting in my early 40's, while I was also under A LOT of stress. My biggest problem was the horrible mood swings. I felt like I turned into a monster 2 weeks every month. I tried to hide my anger, but it always just came out. And I just couldn’t help but direct my anger at my loved ones. Not fun.

And then my breast thermography exams started showing suspicious pre-cancerous activity (another...

Is Heart Disease Really Hereditary?

As a kid, I knew my paternal grandparents had heart problems, and I always wondered if my dad would end up with heart disease…

And then he did. He started having problems with his heart a few years ago. And nothing he has tried so far has helped for any length of time (medications, stent).

But you know what? Knowing what I know now about the power of your thoughts…here’s the stuff I find fascinating:

  • My paternal grandma was really mean, especially to those closest to her. When I was young I hated her. She had this knack of saying something to you in private that made your head spin – and within an hour you were crying your eyes out because it finally sank in just how worthless a human being you were. Now, as an adult, I realize that she must have hated herself and this self-hatred was so unbearable that she projected it out onto other people without realizing it.
  • My dad has always been really angry. I grew up in a household where his rages were the norm....

I’m Stepping into my Power! Will you join me?

I’m stepping into my Power. Will you join me?

I’ve had some really big “aha” moments in the past 2 weeks, and my 10 month-old puppy, Alpine, has been instrumental in my learning these important lessons.

Over the past 3 years, I have learned so much about myself. I’ve been transitioning my business from chiropractic care to Lyme Disease recovery and now my focus is coaching women on how to clean up their mindset so they can learn to heal themselves.

I had to sift through years of built up anger and resentment, hurt feelings, guilt of epic proportions, and just a feeling of being really ticked off at men…Ok, my dad. I never wanted to share the really ugly stuff with you, but stepping into my power is also about me being authentic. If I can muster up the strength to really be myself, and share my most vulnerable lessons with you without this becoming a contest of who has suffered the most, then hopefully you can find your inner strength and...

How to Help a Loved One Who is Sick

I had 2 people in the past week ask me how they could help a loved one who has been really sick. What should they say? What should they do?

This is a great question, as well as a very controversial one! If you ask a sick person this question, their response will be very different because they are looking through the lens of the ego (think about the ego as if talking logically to a 2 year-old…logic doesn’t work with a toddler).

I don’t pretend to have all of the answers, but I can at least share my personal experience as well as what I’ve learned along the way in working with really sick clients. First I’ll give you some background on what is going on in the mind of a sick person, then I’ll give you some pointers on how to help them, and then I’ll tell my story (what it took for me to finally wake up).

A Course In Miracles states that “All illness is mental illness.” What this means is that our physical body will reflect our...

How much do you value facts & statistics?

Facts and statistics are all well and good…until your belief in them dictates your health! This is especially concerning when a doctor is giving you “facts and statistics” related to a diagnosis. Are you aware of how susceptible or suggestible you are?

What would you think if a doctor told you any of the following?

  • You have 2 months, at most, to live
  • Your autoimmune disease in incurable – you will need to learn to live with it
  • Your Lyme disease is incurable
  • 80% of people with this type of cancer die within 5 years
  • 95% of people with this type of injury never walk again
  • Changes in your diet won’t help your disease
  • There is nothing you can do – it’s in your genes
  • You’ll be on this medication for the rest of your life
  • Would you believe any of these statements? Would they shut you down? Would you resign yourself to these limitations?

These suggestible statements are called the Nocebo Effect. If you believe them, they will...

Lyme Disease Treatments – Been There, Done That, Got the T-Shirt

As many of you know, I healed myself from Lyme Disease a few years ago, and I’m really passionate about helping others do the same. Each week I get questions from all over the world about different Lyme treatment options, so today’s blog is all about my experience and opinions.

I’ll go over different treatment options in the order that I tried them, and at the end I’ll give you a summary of what I wished I had known right from the start.

My journey began with joint pain, headaches, severe adrenal fatigue, gallbladder attacks, hormonal imbalances & chronic MRSA infections. At the same time, I was under a lot of emotional stress, was angry all the time & basically needed to learn to chill out!

Adrenal Fatigue, Hormonal Imbalances, Gallbladder Attacks

For adrenal fatigue & hormonal imbalances, I began taking HUGE amounts of supplements and a natural progesterone cream. What I learned along the way is that our bodies can’t make certain hormones...

So you really want to get healthy – what are your first 3 steps?

steps to better health May 21, 2016

Making any significant change in our lives always involves some “inner” work. Whether we want better health, better relationships, more money, a different job…it’s all the same. You have to shift your mindset in order to get different results or to break out of your same old patterns. And I’m not talking about merely setting goals & thinking positively…let’s go a bit deeper…

Here are 3 great starting points to consider:

  1. De-Clutter. When we talk about mindset, your “outer” world will reflect your “inner” world. In other words, if your desk is messy so is your mind. If your email inbox if full so is your mind. If you can’t find anything in your closets because they are so full, then the same goes for your mind. Get the picture? Make a commitment to just get started de-cluttering something! Don’t believe me? I dare you to give this a try! Cleaning up & organizing areas of your outer...

How I was finally able to get a good night’s sleep!

Good quality sleep is so important for your health and well-being. When we have it, we can feel amazing and feel like we are on top of the world. When we don’t have it, we are left with a compromised immune system, and a cranky personality.

When we are already sick, it can seem like an uphill battle getting the good quality sleep that our body needs. We can do and try all the “right” things – turn off the TV, keep electronic devices more than 3 feet from our bed, take a relaxing bath, take a melatonin supplement, keep your bedroom dark, regulate the temperature in your bedroom, etc. – and yet still not get a good night’s sleep.

When I was sick with severe adrenal fatigue and Lyme Disease, I tried everything and still didn’t sleep well. Maybe you are like me. Maybe you need to look a little bit deeper in order to figure this out for yourself.

Now I sleep really well. I have my health back. I have my energy back. I have my life back. So,...

Is Meditation a Bunch of Non-Sense?

Is Meditation a Bunch of Non-Sense? Yep! Let me explain…

The Spirit knows what to do to heal itself. The challenge is to silence the ego.

I get asked all the time about meditation. What is it? Why should I do it? How do I get started? What are the benefits? And a really fun one:  My pastor told me that meditating is actually talking to the devil, is this true?

These are all great questions! So let’s get started!

Hi! I’m Dr JoAnn Tully, creator of Learn To Heal Yourself. I’m a chiropractor that now focuses on helping clients remove their blocks to health & happiness – the blocks that were created by their thoughts, emotions & beliefs.

What is meditation?

Here is wikipedia’s definition:  Meditation is a practice where an individual trains the mind or induces a mode of consciousness, either to realize some benefit or for the mind to simply acknowledge its content...

Are You the Hostess with the Mostess? Has your illness overstayed its welcome?

Has your illness overstayed its welcome, but you can’t seem to get rid of it? Have you been sick for so long, tried everything, been told there’s nothing else that can be done? Well, let’s explore this a bit more before you throw in the towel!

I’m a chiropractor that now focuses on helping really sick clients remove whatever is blocking their good health. And let me tell you, some of you guys have built really big walls that are blocking your good health! Without realizing it, you have made yourself a really good host to some super bugs, inflammation, and just illness in general. And now you’re frustrated and angry! Really angry. How do I know this? Because I’ve had plenty of people lash out at me when I try to help!

You see, I fully recovered from Lyme Disease a few years ago.

That statement alone can set off someone who has been experiencing a chronic illness like Lyme Disease.

It’s meant to be inspiring – if I can do...
